Background

Two people, two counties, one little car in three different costumes. The two people, Petros and Andy first met in 1982, young and fresh faced undergraduates starting their degree in Marketing Engineering at Huddersfield University (then Polytechnic). They became housemates, and a close friendship developed that has lasted four decades.

Both interested in cars, and both proud owners of BMC models. Adult life took them in different directions, Andy staying close to his birthplace in Essex, UK. Whilst Petros lived in California USA, both settled to raise families. During which time Petros rescued the little yellow Frogeye Sprite in the USA and set to to preserve and restore it. Latterly, Petros and Andy started to consider their next “career”, children grown and starting careers of their own. Life moved to the next stage. Lucky for Andy, Petros decided to return back to his childhood home in Greece, which meant there was a need to find a good home for his precious Frogeye project.

This website is an attempt to capture many of the elements of the story. It provides some content looking at the origins of the iconic Austin Healey Sprite MK1, and this little car in particular, through to the preservation of “Fogeye” and onto its new home in the UK.
